Meizu has just taken the wraps off its new flagship phone. The Meizu Pro 6 Plus is the baldest phablet there is by Meizu. With the Huawei Mate 9 out there, Meizu had to up its game and surely they didn’t disappoint.
Being one of the most beloved manufacturers to provide affordable flagships with its clean UI over Android known as the Flyme OS based on Android 6.0. Following Note 7s flop Meizu has hit the sweet spot of phablets. There are plenty of similarities that the Miezu Pro 6 Plus has with the Note 7.
For starters Meizu Pro 6 Plus and Note 7 have the same screen and screen size 5.7 inch AMOLED screen with QHD resolution (2560 x 1440), the same processor Samsung’s Octa-Core Exynos 8890 and the same amount of storage 64GB and 128GB while the RAM remains at 4GB although some manufacturers are taking it up a notch by providing 6GB RAM in their phones. Furthermore Meizu Pro 6 Plus has also reduced the camera megapixels to 12MP from 21MP while the front facing shooter. The battery size is a little less than the Note 7, 100mAh to be exact at 3400mAh. Other main features include OIS (optical image stabilization) for the camera, USB-C port, a fingerprint sensor which is super-fast at 0.15s and a 32-bit audio DAC chip. The fingerprint sensor also doubles as a heart rate sensor. The phone has a ring flash with 10 LEDs working together (yes! You read that correctly). The camera also has laser auto-focus. The phone is 158g, which we believe to be a little on the heavy side. The phone supports 24W charging with the mCharge tech which fuels up the battery to 60% in about 30 minutes (for comparison its 18W for Quick Charge 3.0). However the point to be noted is that there are two versions of the processor one is clocked at 2.0GHz for the 64GB version and the other one is clocked at 2.3GHz for the 128GB version. There is also infrared sensor on board. The Meizu Pro 6 Plus is a complete phone and a must have for Android fans these holidays.
Meizu has provided with a mid-ranger too known as the M3X
The M3X is the smaller of the two at 5.5 inches with 1080p screen resolution. It yet boosts 500 nits of brightness which is on the higher side. Which means, with the given contrast ratio of 1500:1, the screen would be on sight to look at all the time. We love good mid-rangers who get their basics right. The screen according to the official numbers, covers 85% of the front. So we are sure that you would be stuck to your phone for long periods of time.
The M3X is powered by Media Tek Helio P20 chipset with 3GB of or 4GB of RAM depending upon which version you buy, the 32GB one or 64GB one respectively. The phone runs Flyme OS 6.0 as well and has a big battery at 3200mAh with mCharge (18W, matching Quick Charge 3.0 speeds). It has a fingerprint sensor as well with built-in heart rate sensor and a USB Type-C connector.
