Meizu just launched its first dual screen Android smartphone with an AMOLED screen on the back. Dual screen smartphones were a mystery not so long ago. People had various ideas of how dual screens would be implemented but now two companies were bold enough to dive into those deep waters and explore. LG made V20, its first dual screen phone that just had a small strip on top of the screen which acted as an always on second screen. Meizu however, launched its version of dual screen phone Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus as the beasts are known.
Meizu Pro 7 and Meizu Pro 7 Plus have just been announced and they come with an out of this world implementation of dual screens. Meizu Pro 7 has a screen on the front and a second screen on the back of the phone. The second screen measures up to be 1.9 inches with a resolution of 240 x 536 (307 ppi). The second screen is an AMOLED touch screen which can be used for various purposes. The back screen panel lights up as soon as you flip the phone on its back. The screen serves as a notification area, weather clock, music player and a mirror for taking selfies with the primary camera. There are way more implications than we think unlike LG V20’s second screen which was just a strip. Meizu might be revolutionizing smartphones altogether if the second screen becomes a hit with the consumers.
Meizu Pro 7 is the first phone to use the all new processor by MediaTek, the 10-core tri-cluster Helio X30. In comparison to the Snapdragon 835, MediaTek has done a great job with its processor as it is based on a more efficient 10nm process. The Helio X30 also carries a more powerful GPU and a faster Cat 10 LTE radio as well.
Meizu Pro 7 comes in two variants, Meizu Pro 7 and Meizu Pro 7 Plus. The Meizu Pro 7 has a 5.2 inch Super AMOLED full HD panel whereas, the Meizu Pro 7 Plus comes with a 5.7 inch QHD Super AMOLED screen. Both phones have two 12MP cameras at the back of the phone. One camera shoots in black and white while the other camera shoots in colored, both images are then combined to give you a perfect picture. The front snapper is a 16MP module. Meizu Pro 7 has a 3000mAh battery while Meizu Pro 7 Plus has a 3500mAh battery. Meizu Pro 7 has a Helio P25 processor inside which is a midrange processor whereas Meizu Pro 7 Plus has Helio X30. Both phones carry a second screen on the back of the phone.
Since both phones are made by Meizu so we are expecting exceptional sound from them. Both phones carry audio DAC for superior sound quality. Meizu has also kept the conventional 3.5mm jack. There is a USB Type-C port at the bottom as well which supports mCharge 4.0 which is Meizu’s version of fast charge.
The Meizu Pro 7 comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage while the Meizu Pro 7 Plus comes with 6GB RAM and the option of 64GB and 128GB of storages respectively.
We are more than excited about how the fans react to the Meizu Pro 7. The is by far the most interesting dual screen smartphone concept we have ever seen that has been made for the masses.
