iPhone 8 & iPhone 8 Plus | Upgrades Unleashed

The new iPhones are out and many geeks have been stumped either with the beauty of iPhone X or for the lack of changes iPhone 8s have to offer. iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus carry new tech but there is no design change as expected. The reason for this might be to make iPhone X seem more exclusive.

iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus have new tech and features to make it stand out from iPhone 7s and make it seem less iterative. iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus carry out the same design that was first introduced in 2014 with the iPhone 6 but the phone itself has evolved. iPhone 8 has a glass back and front between which there is a sandwiched aluminum casing. Gone are the antenna lines from the back and there is a more beautiful look to the phone.

The displays remain the same in iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus but there is a new addition to the display. The new displays featured are True Tone. The feature adjusts the color balance according to the user’s surroundings to give a much more comfortable viewing experience. The resolution remains the same as before though.

Moving to the camera department. The cameras in the new iPhone 8s are much improved. The resolution remains the same. A 12MP camera at the rear and 7MP at the front. There is an addition of portrait lighting to the front camera. This will add real-time color optimization when taking pictures.

There is an improvement in video recording as well. Now iPhone 8 owners can record 4K at 60 fps and slow-mo videos in 240 fps at 1080p which is double the frame rate of the iPhone 7 series.

The new iPhone 8/ iPhone 8 Plus will have wireless charging feature onboard. All new iPhones will support Qi wireless charging. There are already loads of Qi wireless chargers in the market. Apple iPhone 8s run on the new Bionic chip, which Apple claims is the most sophisticated processor ever used in a smartphone. The new A11 chip consists of 6 cores in total with 4 low performance cores being 70% faster than the previous A10 chip and 2 high performance cores being 25% faster.

There are only two storage sizes in which you can get your iPhone 8 i.e. 64GB and 256GB. We really think Apple should have done more in terms of design language before calling the phone iPhone 8. It should rather have been called the iPhone 7s since it offers just a few upgrades. iPhone 8 starts at $699 a pop.
