LG’s latest LG V30 has just been announced and it takes on the big boys of its category in a big way. This is the first flagship phone by LG that would be supporting an OLED display. Gone is the iffy second screen. There is much improved camera on board which takes on the likes of Sony Xperia XZ1, Samsung Galaxy S8 and iPhone 7 Plus.
LG V30 is powered by Snapdragon 835, the same processor which has been used in Sony Xperia XZ, Sony Xperia XZ1, Samsung Galaxy S8, OnePlus 5 and most of the flagships of this year. There is 4GB RAM on board which will help you tackle the most demanding tasks. The phone will be launching with Android Nougat 7.1.2 and will be updated to Android Oreo.
LG V30 is LG’s first flagship with an OLED screen. This is the first time ever LG has used OLED technology in their phone. The screen-to-body ratio is 82%, which means the front consists of mainly the screen. LG introduced this concept of having more screen on the front with their LG G6 and the industry followed making it mainstream for the second half of 2017. The screen is slightly curved from the sides but not as much as that of Samsung Galaxy S8. The phone has a 6 inch panel and the colors of the screen are mesmerizing to say the least. The screen is a 6 inch panel which curves around the edges but not as much as the Samsung Galaxy S8/S8 plus.
LG V30 checks off every major spec. The phone has a Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB. The phone comes in two variations of internal storage i.e. 64GB and 128GB. The phone has wireless charging on board. LG V30 is IP68 certified. You will be able to use this phone in the most demanding conditions. The phone is backed by a 3,300mAh battery which is non-replaceable. LG V30 also has a headphone jack and Quad DAC support for audiophiles.
Gone is the second screen and now it is replaced by a much better software feature called the floating bar. The bar can be activated and deactivated on your command. The floating bar wouldn’t cause any hindrance unless it is maximized on the screen and even after being expanded on the screen, it takes much less space than most of your widgets.
The camera is the main highlight of the phone, as it has been the case with most of the flagships now. The camera has led manufacturers to implement newer and more innovative tech on their phones. LG V30 consists of dual cameras at the back. One lens is 16MP and the other camera lens is 13MP, with the 13MP lens being the wide-angle lens. LG V30 is the only phone in the world right now that is able to blend wide field of view with standard field of view. LG V30 is really big on video recording as well. There is a plethora of features that LG has implemented in the camcorder department. Users will be able to record in log format which power users of the camera will be using. The log format is fully manually adjustable. This gives users more control over the raw format for recording. Log format also helps capture more dynamic range. LG V30 also has 15 cinematic modes for video recording. There is also point zoom feature on board which helps you focus on one single area or object. The lens automatically follows the object being focused when you pinch the screen to zoom in. The phone is able to record lossless audio when video recording.
LG has implemented the highest aperture ever on a phone camera at f/1.6. This will help it capture more light when taking those night time shots. We are really amazed with LG in implementing that huge aperture in the V30’s camera module. This is also the first phone in which LG has included face unlock and voice unlock features.
LG has really made its mark in 2017 by giving the fans one of the best Android phones out there. Let us know what you think about the LG V30.
