Just like Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 has powered most of the flagships of 2017, it is expected that Snapdragon 845 will be powering most of the flagships of 2018.
According to the rumors, Qualcomm can announce the Snapdragon 845 as early as next month at the technology summit being held in Maui, Hawai. For reference, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 835 at CES 2017.
The Snapdragon 845 will be manufactured using FinFET technology using 10 nm technology. The new processor will consist of four ARM Cortex-A75 cores and four ARM Cortex-A53 cores which will work simultaneously. The performance is said to be a small jump over the Snapdragon 835.
In terms of graphics processing power, the SD 845 will come with Adreno GPU. The new GPU will have significant graphics processing power boost over the previous iteration. The new chipsets will be tailor made for AR (augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality).
Rumors are Samsung has booked the new Snapdragon 845 for its Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ lineup. There are also rumors that Mi 7 would be the first phone to get it as it is expected to launch before the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+.
