We have heard many things being said in rivalries, many slogans, many ads being made but Asus has taken it to a whole new level at the MWC 2018. Asus just launched Zenfone 5, Zenfone 5z and Zenfone 5 Lite and these phone compete with the very best.

Zenfone 5 series features a metal frame and a curved 2.5D glass on the front and back. Zenfone 5z comes with the highest specs in the series. The phones are separated by the chipset used in them and the storage capacity. The phone is filled with AI features. AI Boost is there for providing more power when gaming, AI Photography detects scenes, has photo learning, portrait mode and beautification, AI Display keeps the screen turned on while you are looking at the phone and adjusts the color temperature and there is even AI Ringtone on board which adjusts the loudness of your ringtone depending on how noisy the environment is. Asus has also introduced ZeniMoji – these are live animated avatars that can also be used in video calls.

Asus has used Super IPS display with a resolution of 2,246 x 1080px. The screen can produce up to 500-nit of brightness. There is also a notch at the top of the screen which is 26% smaller than the fruit phone X (as said in the presentation by Asus). This helps the phone achieve a screen-to-body ratio of 90%.

Asus Zenfone 5 comes with Snapdragon 636 chipset coupled with 4GB or 6GB RAM depending on which one you chose. The phone has a dual camera setup at the back. Both sensors are 12MP. One sensor is a wide angle lens while the other one has a normal field of view. The selfie camera is 8MP with f/2.0 aperture and 84 degree field of view.

The phone is powered by a 3,000mAh battery with AI charging. There are dual speakers, dual amps and dual SIM functionality on board as well.

The Zenfone 5z is the same as Zenfone 5 but with Snapdragon 845, with 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage. The prices haven’t been announced yet but it seems like Asus is throwing the kitchen sink here.
