We really wanted to see the Xperia Premium line from Sony at the MWC 18 but unfortunately it was held back due to some reason. However, Sony has just announced the Xperia XZ2 Premium and it comes with loads of world’s first tech.
Let’s start off with the best of the lot. Sony has really upped its camera game now since all other manufacturers have started gaining on them or even surpassed them. Xperia XZ2 Premium is Sony’s first ever phone with dual-lens. This is the world’s first camera phone with ISO rating of 12,800 for video recording which is also the world’s highest for a phone camera. On top of it, the phone has a rating of ISO 51,200 for still capture. These ISO figures were unheard of in the mobile industry until now. Not to forget, this is also the first phone camera that can record 4K HDR and Full HD 960fps slow-mo. Wow! Those are staggering numbers to say the least. Xperia XZ2 Premium
Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium also keeps the promise of 4K HDR in place. Sony is the only phone manufacturer that implements 4K screens in its cellphones. The display measures at 5.8-inches. It is not an OLED display but an LED-LCD. Sony’s X Reality engine is there to upscale videos and photos to 4K and it does quite a good job at it.
The two lens on Sony work just like Huawei’s Leica lenses. One module captures the picture in black and white while the other captures in color. The pictures are combined to give optimal contrast and form a single image. One sensor is a 19MP color lens with f/1.8 aperture, whereas the black and white lens is 12MP and has an aperture of f/1.6.
Sony has also introduced Bokeh effect. Earlier, this feature was called background defocus which Sony first introduced. Background defocus wasn’t that good though in producing the final image. The latest tech however does a marvelous job. The front snapper measures at 13MP with a sensor size of 1/3.06 inches. This time around Sony has introduced steady shot stabilization on the front sensor.
Xperia XZ2 Premium houses the Snapdragon 845 processor with 6GB RAM. The Premium model has an increased 2GB RAM than the standard Xperia XZ2 version. The battery is also larger measuring at 3,540mAh compare to Xperia XZ2’s 3180mAh. The rest of the specs are the same as Xperia XZ2.
