Many phone manufacturers have tried their hand at building a truly bezel-less phone and failed but now Vivo has succeeded in creating the world’s first truly bezel-less phone. Just a few months ago Vivo showed us the APEX phone concept and now they have announced its mass production unit, i.e. NEX S and NEX A.
NEX series is the world’s first to implement a fingerprint scanner within the screen. We have never seen anything like it. The tech is revolutionary for cell phone security. There can be several implementations of an in-display fingerprint sensor. NEX phones highlight the area where users have to place their finger on screen to unlock the phone.
NEX phones have also been able to achieve more than 90% world’s first screen-to-body ratio. The screen-to-body ratio is above 91.24% to be exact. The screen has an infinite display effect and it is enormous but the phone itself is pretty manageable in the hands. The display is 6.59-inches diagonal with an aspect ratio of 19.3:9.
This is the first notch-less phone with an excellent screen-to-body ratio. Vivo has used an all new technology for sound to pass through the screen. NEX phones use SoundCasting Technology that deliver better bass and softer treble. The display is a SUPERAMOLED screen which gives the best contrast of any screen technology with the deepest blacks imaginable on a display. The resolution is right up there with the latest flagships which is FHD+. There is periscope camera which shoots selfies. The resolution of which is 8MP with f/2.0 aperture.
The NEX S is powered by Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB internal storage. At the back of the phone there is a dual camera setup with two lenses at 12MP and 5MP resolution. This might seem ordinary but we have to wait for the real life test results in order to determine how well the camera is. Juice is provided by a 4,000mAh battery and there is a quick charger included as well. The phone runs on Android 8.1 with Funtouch 4.0 OS onboard. There is a new Jovi assistant on the phone as well which has its own dedicated hardware button just like the Bixby.
NEX A differs in the processor department. NEX A has Snapdragon 710 processor, the RAM is 6GB and there is a fingerprint sensor on the back.
Vivo has thrashed all competition with its latest offering and we are bamboozled by it. It seems like Vivo will be making a huge mark in the high-end mobiles.
