Chopping off bezels is the new in thing in tech. Brands from all over the world have been claiming that it is the biggest selling point for their new devices. It all started when Apple launched its iPhone X and all other phone manufacturers followed. The latest Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus are the new entrants. They have shed most of their bezels off giving them a sleek design language.
While this must be interesting on its own, Meizu phones also come with an under-display fingerprint reader. That alone could’ve stolen the spotlight. Meizu 16 comes with a 6-inch display while Meizu 16 Plus comes with 6.5-inch display. Both these displays have FHD+ resolution and are Super AMOLED. The in-display fingerprint sensor is also quite fast as it takes only 0.25s to unlock the phone. Moreover, the phone has a screen-to-body ratio of above 90%. Meizu 16 is turning out to be the best flagship killer of 2018 but the year is not over yet.
Dual-camera setup at the back of the phone comprises of a 12MP main shooter (f/1.8, 1.55µm) with OIS and a 20MP telephoto camera (f/2.6, 1.0µm). There is a ring LED flash which is Meizu trademark.
The phone is powered by none other than Qualcomm SD 845 coupled with 8GB of RAM. It simply blows its competition out of water. This might be the best phone of 2018 but that title will be given at the end of this fall. The price starts at $470 which is reasonably cheaper than the competition.
We have yet to see the performance of the phone against the current flagships. Camera is going to be the biggest decider for this phone. Meizu 16 also have mCharge tech for faster charging times. All-in-all this is the reasonably priced beast that other phone manufacturers should be looking out for.
